What’s DELAYING your PROGRESS? (10 attitudes that get you STUCK in LIFE!)
If you are feeling stuck in life and would like things to start moving again, today I’m going to talk about 10 attitudes that might be delaying your progress, and I really hope that this post helps you to reflect and change the course of your life!
Just like in nature, life also has cycles and sometimes there is not much we can do other than live in autopilot! But very often we get stuck and it’s our fault because we have the wrong attitude, wrong mindset and we lack action!
1 – Lack of Direction
It’s good to know how to go with the flow because, in the end of the day, most things that we plan don’t happen as we want, but you still need a direction!
Think about your life as if it was a boat, if you don’t set your sails to some destiny, you will be just floating and won’t get anywhere! Always have a goal in mind and work to achieve it, it might be as simple as learning something new.
Focus your energies and your actions, and keep yourself moving, you will get somewhere someday!
2 – Procrastination
Time is the most important resource that you have in life, and procrastination is a problem because you are wasting it! Have a clear vision in your mind about something that you want and commit yourself to it everyday to make it happen!
Avoid distractions! Think about the time you spend watching TV, social medias and other things that don’t add anything to you, and ask yourself how you could spend this same time in a more productive way to build a better life!
3 – Comfort Zone
Have you ever heard the saying that nothing grows in the comfort zone? It’s an absolute truth! So if you like yours, don’t worry, you don’t need to leave it in a radical way.
Just ask yourself when was the last time that you did something for the first time, if it’s been a while, you need to try something new urgently! Develop the habit of challenging yourself often, it’s a great way to grow and develop yourself!
Don’t stay in your comfort zone for too long because life will kick you out of it, and when that happens, might be quite painful!
4 – Postponing Goals
If you already have a goal in mind and still didn’t start to work on it, what are you waiting for? If you keep postponing it, there are good chances it will never happen!
How many people do you know that keep saying “I will start my diet next Monday”, and it’s been a year, maybe even more, and they didn’t start yet?
The best time to start working on your goals is now! Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today, unless you can live with the frustration of not making it happen!
5 – Give Up Too Soon
If you already started to work on your goals, don’t give up before starting to see solid results because it might take a while!
If it’s something you never done before, might take months or even years for you to master that, so have patience with yourself and when you think about giving up, remind yourself about how long it took you to learn all the other things that you already know!
6 – Perfectionism
If you seek perfection, might be a problem because either you will wait for perfect conditions to start, or you might feel frustrated in your initial attempts.
You will hardly ever have perfect conditions to do something, and if you wait for them, you might never start! Just work with what you have, with the resources that are available to you, and give your best! The most important is to start!
Don’t expect excellent results in the beginning, you might get disappointed and maybe even give up. Perfection will come after some time and a lot of practice!
7 – Complaints
If you tend to complain, for sure it will delay you in life, and I will tell you why! When you complain, you are focusing only on the problem instead of looking at a solution. Besides, where you put your attention and focus, the only thing you get is to create more of it!
Complaining won’t change anything, won’t take you anywhere and will turn you into a very negative person! If you have this habit, you need to change your attitude! You can start being grateful for the things that you already have and focusing on what you can do to change what you dislike!
8 – To Put Conditions
I hear people saying all the time “when I get that, I will be happy… If I had that, I would do this”, that’s like putting conditions in life and that’s not good at all!
Especially if you are counting on external things that you cannot control because maybe they will never happen! And if they do, might not be as you expected!
Anything that you want to achieve in life, you have to work with what you have available in the present moment and rely only on yourself!
9 – Rely on Other
Very often I see people counting on other to make something happen, and that can delay a lot your life!
Anything you want, use the skills you already have! And if you need something that you don’t know, either you hire a professional, or you learn what you need!
Don’t expect people to hep you, you cannot control their actions and, if you are an adult responsible for yourself, nobody has the obligation to help you!
If they help, great! It’s a bonus! But if they don’t, at least you don’t get disappointed or upset with anyone!
10 – Play the Victim
If you are always playing the victim in life, feeling crushed by the things that happen or blaming others for the problems you have, you are giving your power away!
You cannot control what happens in life, only the way you react! When life brings a challenge, just use it to develop yourself and grow!
Putting yourself in a victim position makes you carry a very heavy burden! A better attitude would be to take responsibility for your own failures and mistakes, and learn from them! Life is not about what happens to you, is about what you do with it! So take your power back!
