My secrets to have COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY in life!

Can you set goals and make them happen? Are you a disciplined person? If you are, you know that you need 3 main ingredients:

  • Commitment
  • Self-discipline
  • Consistency

I’ve been complimented many times for having these three, so today I will share with you my secrets to achieve the things that I want in my life!

In this post I want to tell you all the important steps and details that I use to be sure that I make things happen! And by doing this, I really hope I can help you to achieve your goals as well!

Commitment Yourself

If you want to change or achieve something, it has to be important to you! There is no way you will be able to stay committed in the long run if it’s not something that you deeply care about it. So the trick is:

  • Either you really want something
  • Or you are extremely fed up

I have changed many things in my life simply because I’ve got to the conclusion that I couldn’t live like that anymore! Whatever it is, once it clicks inside you and you decide to do something about it, then yes, you will be ready to commit and make it happen!

Find your Why

I’ve tried many times to set goals just for the sake of it, like reading a book per week or doing 10 yoga sun salutations a day, and I failed to achieve them because it was missing another very important ingredient:

  • Why did I want to do that?
  • What was the reason?

Sometimes is really hard to implement changes in your life, so the stronger your reason is, more fuel you will have for your actions. Find your why and you will find a way to make it happen!

Create a Vision

After you find what you want to commit and your very important reason to do that, create a clear vision! You will need it on your journey because there will be difficult moments and they might make you feel like giving up!

Every aspect that I changed in my life, in all of them I had moments that I was so frustrated that I just wanted to drop everything… When that happened, I would bring my vision back into my mind and ask myself:

  • Do I really wanna give up?
  • If I stop doing what I’m doing that means that I’m ready to let it go of what I want, is it what I really want?

And trust me, this inner chat works wonders to keep your mind under control!

Knowledge and Practice

After you commit, find your why and create a vision, you need to start working on your goals, and to do that, you need knowledge and practice! There is a lot of knowledge for free on the internet, so money cannot be an excuse!

Every goal I had in my life, my first step was to research about it on Google and YouTube. After reading and watching videos from different people, I could identify the common topics and go deeper in my studies.

To change something in your life, you need to change your mindset. Without changing your mind and your knowledge about things, you cannot make it become a reality!

After you get some knowledge, you need to implement in your life. Knowledge without action is just knowledge, knowledge with practice means transformation!

Excuses are Obstacles

Whatever you want to do, hardly ever you will have the perfect conditions, there is always a “but” on the way! Don’t let it stop you from starting and getting what you want! Whatever excuses you have, money, weather, family, friends, change them from excuses to obstacles! Instead of letting them stop you, ask yourself how you can go around them.

If you knew the conditions I have to record my videos for YouTube, you would be surprised. I live in an extremely noisy place from 6 in the morning until midnight. To go around this issue, I record when everybody else is sleeping. Is it ideal? Absolutely not, but it is the best I can do at this moment.

The most important thing is to work with the tools that are available to you at this moment!

Trials and Errors

When we start to work on something, we get really excited about it and we see a beautiful journey ahead, right? Well, reality is a bit different, the journey is full of ups and downs!

On this journey, you will have to try different things, some of them will work for you, others will not. And when they don’t, you need to understand that there is no such a thing that you might call failure!

  • Please repeat with me, there is no failure!!!

There are just trials and errors, just learn from them, move on and try something else!

Inner Dialogues

It’s very likely that your mind will crush you! First reason is because it does not like changes so it will keep bugging you to stick to your old habits. Second reason is because your ego is really mean and really good at letting you down.

You need to learn the art of having mental debates inside your mind, and to do that, you have to develop a part that is wiser than the one that speaks to your most of the time. This part has to be much stronger so it can win all the arguments!

Besides winning arguments and debates, you must be able to compliment yourself even when you are not so good at something, you must be able to say at least one positive thing for having tried. Don’t let your mind defeat you all the time!

Pace and Consistency

Your pace will determine your consistency so the trick here is:

  • Your mind likes numbers
  • Set weekly goals
  • Complete them

This will help you to build more trust on yourself that you can make it happen!

Be reasonable, instead of targeting to do something every day, why not 3 or 4 times a week? Being consistent is more important than being extreme! If you push yourself beyond your limits, you might stop believing that you can do it.

You can always adjust the pace as well:

  • If you feel you can improve and do more, increase the numbers
  • If you feel too much pressure, decrease them

The most important thing is to keep doing it, don’t stop!!! Even if it’s not as much as you wanted to do, don’t underestimate the power small actions have over time!

Time

You have no idea how much I dislike when I see people selling things on the internet promising major transformations in a short period of time. And it’s amazing because it looks like a lot of people buy it, probably because they believe that’s actually possible.

Please, think with me for a second, you spent a whole life building the person that you are right now, what are the changes that you will be able to dismantle an aspect of yourself and change overnight?

To make major transformations that will stay with you permanently, take time! A lot of time! Sometimes even years!

So you can have an idea, to change my whole lifestyle from unhealthy to healthy, took me over 5 years!

That’s why all the points that I have mentioned today are super important, because to achieve what you want, probably you will need to keep yourself on track for a long period of time!

I really hope my post today has helped you to understand everything that you need to keep yourself committed, disciplined and consistent on this kind of journey, and that you may conquer all your desires in your life!
