SPIRITUAL AWAKENING: How to find your PERSONAL TRUTH! (self-discovery in 3 steps)
Today I would like to share with you some ideas on how to find your own personal truth, especially if you are going through the spiritual awakening process, or if you are on a journey to know yourself better.
There is a very interesting book called “E.T. 1o1” which says that we all fight for the truth, but in reality, if we crossed paths with it down the street, most of us wouldn’t be able to recognize it! So the matter is not about finding the absolute truth, maybe we will never know that, it’s about finding your own personal truth, or getting to know yourself better in 3 simple steps, using the two main centers of your body: your mind and your heart!
Question
That’s the first step: Question! Without questioning, you won’t get anywhere!
I’ve had some clients in the past who have done past life regression with me, and they didn’t have anything specific in mind that they would want to know, it was just out of curiosity, and the results were quite vague!
It’s not just about questioning with your mind, of course the whole process starts there, it’s about how deep in your heart you want to know something or understand something better! The more intense your desire is in your heart, the easier it will be to open the doors of your mind! These two centers, your mind and your heart, have to be connected and work together for you to get the best results.
I know it sounds like quite a simple advice, perhaps even silly, but think about how many people you know who are struggling, and when you ask them something, they say “oh, I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it yet. …”.
If you are on the path of knowing yourself, or finding your own truth, you have to deeply think about the things that are important to you, and above all, ask the right questions!
On this kind of journey, the right questions are never about the things that are happening outside of you. It doesn’t matter why people do what they do, it doesn’t matter why things happen the way they do, what matters is how you respond to them! Get in the habit of asking yourself:
- Why am I reacting this way?
- Why do I “function” this way?
- What are the limiting beliefs I have that are holding me back?
- What are the thoughts going through my head that are letting me down or even making me feel frustrated?
I’ve seen this happening many times, with myself and even with clients and friends, the greater the intention to find out something, the better the result! Once you have identified what it is that you would like to find about your personal truth, whether it’s an aspect of yourself, a limiting belief, a difficulty, or even a spiritual experience, question, question, question!!! This will take you to the next step!
Seek
The second step is about seeking and finding your own answers. You can look for a book related to what you want to know, search the internet, or even sit down to meditate and seek within yourself!
When you are searching for it externally, like reading for example, pay attention to what rings true at the core of your being! If you’re working to get to know yourself better or understand spiritual issues, it’s not just about making sense only in your mind, logically speaking, it’s about making sense at your core, that’s where the biggest transformations happen!
I’ve met people who read ancient spiritual books like the “Tao Te Ching” and the “Bhagavad Gita”, and the knowledge didn’t penetrate, it was just on the mental level, so basically, it’s knowledge without transformation! Whatever you’re looking for, you need these two centers (mind and heart) making sense of things and working together!
Now if you’re looking for answers only within yourself, let me tell you how it works! You have all the answers you need within you, but accessing them is not always easy, especially if you are not used to meditate or to work with your inner states of being.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, to open the doors of your mind, you will need to question, have a desire to know more, and you will also need to pay attention when the answer comes. Sometimes you will get it right away during your meditation practice, other times it will come as a “pop-up” out of nowhere when you least expect it!
From my own personal experience, I can tell you that when it’s something spiritual and related to the universe, the information is already there, available to you! And you can get it through meditation! Of course it will depend on how open you are to receive and understand the answer.
When what you need is about understanding your current behavior, which probably is connected to a childhood memory, you will have to keep asking and prodding your subconscious mind so that it can release this information for you.
You don’t even need meditation to do this, you just have to wonder why things are the way they are, and at some point, the answer will appear out of nowhere, like a “pop-up” with a scene, a memory, or something that immediately will help you to understand how it’s related to what you are looking for.
After you have questioned and found your answers, you will move on to the next step, the integration of acquired knowledge, and sometimes validation.
Integrate
When you can work on both levels, mind and heart, the transformation has probably already taken place, and the knowledge must have already been integrated as part of your personal truth! The deeper the change within your being, the more visible the change in your external actions will be! All you need to do is to observe your new behaviors!
Now, if you’ve had an inner spiritual experience, and you came out of meditation thinking it was all your imagination, the universe knows how we are, and usually it finds ways to validate our experiences! It does that by sending people, books or even articles on the internet, with descriptions very similar to everything you’ve seen, and that ends up proving you experience!
If you still have trouble believing, let me tell you something, who wants to believe in something doesn’t need proof, and who doesn’t want to believe, you can offer thousands and the person will still doubt, so it’s completely up to you! Instead of doubting your experience, just ask yourself how it helps you to understand what you need, because at the end of the day, that was the main goal!
