What are the general DETOX BENEFITS! (physical and mental benefits)
Are you considering to do a detox practice but you’re not really sure what are the benefits from it? Then this post is definitely for you!
Let’s talk about the benefits of detox today! If you have in mind that the only benefits of the practice are losing weight and removing toxins from your body, you might get a bit disappointed because as soon as you stop the practice and go back to your regular lifestyle, most likely you will gain everything back.
Knowing that, you might ask yourself “why would I do a detox then?”. There are many benefits to this practice, physical and mental, that will stay with you for a long time, and today I’ll talk about three of them!
Raise your Physical Awareness
Most of us fail at listening to our own physical bodies, we eat more than what we need and we eat when we are not hungry, and we don’t realize the impact that food has on our digestive system and the way we feel!
Usually when we work on our eating habits, we do that slowly and bit by bit. But when you do a detox, probably you will change your whole diet overnight and this will shock your physical body! So within 24 hours, your whole body system will change as well, which for sure will force you to pay more attention!
You might be shocked to figure it out that a lighter meal will give you more energy and that you’ll not feel hungry for hours after having a glass of juice full of nutrition!
If you are on a journey to become healthier, by practicing detox you can get a base of comparison between what feels good and what doesn’t feel good in your digestive system. You might even learn how to listen better to your physical needs and that will stay with you even after you finish the program.
The Benefit of Mental Strength
We all have multiple voices inside our minds and when you are working to change something, you will have two main voices: one that will keep asking for the things that you are used to, and another that will argue and work to implement the changes that you want to achieve.
Basically during the whole practice you will have a daily mental battle between these two voices. I know, mental battles are exhaustive, but it’s really important that you learn to observe this inner dialogue and become more aware of it. And work to strengthen the voice that fights for change because you want it to win! That’s a very useful skill for any aspect that you want to improve in your life!
Discipline and Commitment
I will even dare to say that these two are the most important elements in any kind of personal development journey! Without them, I’m really sorry to inform you, but you are not going anywhere!
If you want to become healthier, you have to make commitments for the long run and have the discipline to make them happen. Now, I have a question for you, if you are unable to finish a week long detox program, how do you expect to make any other permanent changes in your life?
I do recommend you to sign up for any kind of program, as long as it doesn’t affect your health and you finish it! That’s a good way to develop and make these two skills stronger!
If you can change your whole diet for a short period of time, maybe when you finish the practice, you take the decision of changing something small permanently in your life, don’t underestimate the power that small changes have in the long run!
